🌟 1. True Freedom is Freedom of the Soul
Salman al-Farisi (RA) — a companion who was once a slave — said after accepting Islam:
“I was seeking the truth to free my soul, not just my body.”
Islam liberated Salman not only from physical slavery, but from being a servant of anything other than Allah. Teach the sisters that true freedom is being free from sin, ego, and worldly attachments — and being a humble servant of Allah.
⚖️ 2. Umar ibn al-Khattab (RA): “When did you enslave the people?”
During his caliphate, Umar ibn al-Khattab (RA) once saw a man oppressing another. He said:
“When did you enslave the people, though they were born free by their mothers?”
This powerful statement shows how Islam views every human being — regardless of race, class, or status — as born free and with dignity. Teach this value of justice and equality to the sisters, especially in how we treat others.
🕊️ 3. Bilal ibn Rabah (RA): A Symbol of Spiritual Freedom
Bilal (RA) was tortured as a slave for believing in One God. But his heart was free. He kept repeating:
“Ahad, Ahad” (One, One)
Despite physical pain, Bilal’s soul was never enslaved. Islam gave him the strength to resist oppression and he rose to become the first mu’adhin (caller to prayer) of Islam — a man whose voice echoed the freedom of Tawheed (belief in One God).
